By creating an account on Rakam, you agree to these Terms of Service.
Please read them carefully before using the platform.
1. What Rakam Is
Rakam is an AI-powered accounting assistant designed to help UAE SMEs read invoices,
track expenses, calculate VAT, and prepare financial summaries. Rakam is a software tool,
not a licensed accounting firm or tax advisor.
Important: Rakam assists with accounting tasks but does not guarantee
the accuracy of VAT calculations or FTA compliance. You are solely responsible for
verifying all figures before filing with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).
2. Eligibility
You may use Rakam if you:
- Are 18 years or older
- Are using the platform for legitimate business purposes
- Provide accurate information when creating your account
- Are operating a business registered in the UAE or GCC region
3. Your Account
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure
- You must not share your account with others
- You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access
- One account per business entity
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload fraudulent, altered, or fake invoices
- Use Rakam to evade taxes or misrepresent financial data
- Attempt to access other users' data
- Reverse engineer or copy the platform
- Upload malicious files or attempt to compromise the system
- Use the platform for any illegal purpose under UAE law
5. VAT and FTA Compliance
Rakam calculates UAE VAT at the standard rate of 5% as per Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017.
However:
- Rakam does not submit VAT returns to the FTA on your behalf
- All VAT figures must be reviewed by a qualified accountant before filing
- Rakam is not liable for penalties arising from incorrect VAT filings
- Zero-rated and exempt supplies must be manually verified
6. Data and Privacy
Your financial data belongs to you. We do not sell it, share it, or use it for advertising.

7. Service Availability
- We aim for 99% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service
- We may perform maintenance with advance notice where possible
- AI invoice reading depends on third-party APIs (Anthropic Claude) which may occasionally be unavailable
8. Payments and Subscriptions
- Subscription fees are billed monthly in AED
- No refunds for partial months
- We will give 30 days notice before any price changes
- Free trial period (if offered) requires no credit card
9. Termination
You may cancel your account at any time by emailing hello@rakam.ai.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination,
your data is retained for 30 days then permanently deleted (except where required by UAE law).
10. Limitation of Liability
Rakam is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by UAE law, we are not liable for:
- Errors in AI-extracted invoice data
- Incorrect VAT calculations based on unclear invoice images
- FTA penalties or fines
- Loss of business or revenue
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates.
Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the UAE.
12. Changes to Terms
We will notify you by email 14 days before making material changes to these terms.
Continued use of Rakam after the effective date means you accept the new terms.
